Immigration Options for Hiring Foreign Professional and Visa Options for International Entrepreneurs (6/14/2017)

The U.S. immigration system places many hurdles in front of U.S. companies looking to hire international professionals, as well as foreign national investors and entrepreneurs. This seminar will discuss the immigration options available for U.S. businesses looking to grow their companies with international talent, and examine the issues foreign entrepreneurs face in obtaining visas to establish and work their startups in the U.S. We will provide tips for handling some of the issues that are unique to startup organizations, founders, and their employees.

Learning Objectives: (1) What are the qualifications if I am a U.S. business and I want to hire and sponsor and international professional? (2) What are the criteria for qualifying for a U.S. work visa if I am a foreign national and I want to run or invest in my own U.S. startup? (3) If I'm currently working in the U.S. for a company on an employer-sponsored visa, can I venture out and create my own startup?

Business Structure: Forming and Maintaining a Business Entity (6/27/2017)

Many factors must be considered when choosing the best form of business ownership or structure. Whether you are an individual owner or a partner, the choice you make impacts multiple aspects of your business, including taxes, personal liability, ownership succession, and others. It's not a decision to be entered into lightly - or one that should be made without sound counsel from business experts. In this session, you will receive an in-depth analysis of the most common entity types for Texas businesses and the types of documentation associated with those entity types. You will also have an opportunity to have your questions answered. The session will be taught by local business attorney James Howard.
